The Perfect Honeymoon

How to Plan the Perfect Honeymoon

After months, maybe even years, of planning the perfect wedding day, most married couples look forward to their honeymoon as a way to shake off the stress and take their first steps together as newlyweds.

The ideal honeymoon is different for everyone, but it should give you the chance to unwind and relax, while doing activities that you both enjoy. Here is our guide to ensuring your trip is problem-free.

Make a Wish List

This is possibly the most important part of ensuring you have the honeymoon of your dreams. Neither of you should have to compromise – this is about making sure you both get exactly what you want out of your adventure.

Just be prepared to be flexible in the case of inclement weather – we can’t organise everything I’m afraid!

Details Matter

The perfect honeymoon is about more than just flights and accommodation. There are lots of little extra touches you can add to your break, many of which don’t cost the earth. For example, look into booking a lounge for the period between handing in your luggage and boarding the flight.

Most offer food and drinks as part of the booking, and it will give you somewhere to relax and chat before you go. As a little wedding gift and thank you for their booking, I give a lounge pass away to all my honeymoon couples.

Book in Advance

While on your honeymoon, you don’t want the hassle of having to arrange excursions or finding out that dream tour is fully booked. We suggest doing some research before you go and booking your favourite activities in advance.

This is something I can do for you, tailor-making your holiday package to suit your requirements. Once you arrive, you can relax, knowing that everything is taken care of and all you need to do is turn up in the right place at the right time.

Stick to a Budget

If there is any time in your life that you want to splurge, it is when you have just got married. But weddings are very expensive events and the last thing you want to do is spend the beginning of your married relationship arguing about money and having to make cut-backs at home.

While there are many adventures that rely on having a full wallet, there are lots of other ways to explore a destination that don’t have to cost a fortune. Talking to an expert can help you discover these and ensure your honeymoon is just as magical.

Time your Booking

Booking flights any earlier than 11 months in advance is pointless, since most airlines haven’t released a full timetable by then. We recommend booking seven to eight months before you intend to travel, which gives you time to set up a honeymoon gift list to send out with the invitations.

Letting your friends and family contribute towards your trip is often a popular idea, as many couples have already been living together for a while and have everything that is traditionally gifted.
